Volunteers’ Week – Agnes Majuru
To celebrate Volunteers’ Week this week, (2nd – 8th June), we are highlighting some of our amazing Brendoncare volunteers who make such a difference daily at our care homes and community clubs, and through our telephone and digital support services.
Today, we would like you to meet Agnes Majuru, one of our telephone support volunteers, who explains how her beliefs are so important in helping people through Brendoncare.
“I started volunteering in 2021 in Harare, Zimbabwe as a Neighbourhood Community Treasurer and later at Brendoncare in April 2023 as a Telephone Support Volunteer. All my volunteering is done remotely!
“Our African culture of ‘ubuntu’ which means ‘humane-ness’ always teaches us to be kind, empathetic, helpful and loving. My Christian beliefs encourage me to be helpful to the vulnerable and weak.
“My favourite part of volunteering at Brendoncare is when I complete my telephone calls to members and they are smiling and thankful as a result. It is satisfying and fulfilling to volunteer at Brendoncare and I would encourage anyone to give it a try.”
