Brendoncare Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week
With this week (9th – 15th February) being National Apprenticeship Week, Brendoncare is proud to celebrate the exciting progress we are making with our apprenticeship schemes.
Brendoncare has introduced a new approach by working with one dedicated provider, The Opportunity Provider Ltd (previously known as HIT Training), overseeing key areas of our work-based learning. This creates consistent, high quality learning for all our team members taking an apprenticeship in their own particular areas of expertise.
Two Brendoncare team members who have completed their apprenticeships are both members of our skilled catering teams.
Lee Wilson, junior chef at Brendoncare Alton, completed his Level 2 Comms Chef apprenticeship, while Jordan Payne, Brendoncare Knightwood’s Chef Manager, successfully passed his Level 4 Hospitality Manager apprenticeship with a Distinction.
Jordan said of his experiences:
“Overall, I really enjoyed my apprenticeship. There were some challenging moments and lots of hard work that went into it.
“However, with the support of both my apprenticeship trainer and the people here at Brendoncare, I was able to complete my apprenticeship achieving a Distinction on all assessments, which I’m truly proud of.
“The apprenticeship I took focused on management as well at the kitchen operations. It had many direct links to my role at work, and it was very rewarding to put into practice all things I was learning on my apprenticeship each week.
“On its completion, I can clearly see the improvements I’ve made in my role and the improvement of my overall confidence at work.”
Montana Pusey, Brendoncare’s Learning and Development Adviser, adds:
“Apprenticeships play a vital role in developing skills, building confidence and supporting career progression, and we’re delighted to continue investing in our people and their futures.”
Fully funded work-based qualifications are available for all job roles to help you develop your skills and knowledge, ranging from Level 2 to Level 7. Opportunities cover a variety of areas, including hygiene, care, hospitality, administration, and senior leadership. By offering apprenticeships across our homes, we support our team members to gain recognised qualifications, build their skills and progress in their careers.
